‘I will behave myself. I am going to be calm. I won’t raise my voice.
It’s WILD CANDY—it’s Mr. Big Pepe
It’s WILD CANDY—it’s Mr. Big Pepe—
It’s WILD CANDY!’
The last words came out almost like a groan, as President of the Nevis Turf and Jockey Club, Allister Thompson, conceded defeat, as the popular horse, he helped to train, Mr. Big Pepe, was just edged out by Wild Candy.
This caused much jubilation for the Wild Candy fan club and Thompson was momentarily left speechless but later urged everyone to be back on August the 3rd when he expects MR. BIG PEPE ‘to set the record straight.’
The action was at the Indian Castle Race track on June 15th and was dubbed ‘The Father’s Day Race Meet’.
The crowd was not huge but vociferous as they had a close look at the horses and jockeys engaged in the five races.
