Philo Wallace, son of former Nevis and Leeward Islands speedster Rafael Wallace, was the stand out batsman at the under 19 practice match on Wednesday 17th April.
Wallace played a cultured knock, getting to the half century mark to help his team to a six wicket victory.
The match was played at the ET Willet Park with the officiating umpires being Carl Tuckett and Chavez Archibald.
Details are sketchy but team one scored 142 all out in 32 overs with Kezron Archibald batting solidly until his soft dismissal in the 30’s, while Ross Powell scored 22.
Hakeem Harvey and Philo Wallace got the ball to bounce and turn off the Jabal Tyson prepared surface and posed some problems for the batsmen.
When team two batted, they needed just 32.4 of the allotted 35 overs to overhaul the target, getting to 146 for 4, on the back of the Philo Wallace half century.
National Coach Stuart Williams has indicated that this is only the first in a series of matches that the youngsters will play in preparation for the Leeward Islands under 19 tournament which is upcoming.
