Village still on top league after 2-0 win over Spurs

The Rams Village Superstars did not allow Sunday’s loss in the Easter Cup finals to dampen their spirit as they came out big winners in a top of the table clash with Hobson Enterprises Garden Hotspurs on Wednesday night. Village maintained their chokehold on the top of the league with a 2-0 win over Spurs during National Bank Premier League action. A slew of yellow cards were issued in this match; Spurs receiving four and Village three. One of those Spurs players, Rachel Allen, picked up two, which is a tantamount to a red card, in the dying moments of the match.

Coach Leroy Liburd of Village said his team learnt from their Easter Cup loss on Sunday, which spurred them on to victory in the Premier League. “I think we were much better prepared for this game than we were for the game that we played before. We had a few days off to reflect on the Easter Cup Finals and a few stuff that we could have done better we didn’t do and we were able to effect those on the game tonight,” Coach Liburd said.

In the night’s first match, high after winning the Easter Cup, SOL IAS Conaree F.C. snatched a 2-1 win over Winners Circle Newtown United. Both goals from Conaree came from Glenroy Samuel in the 14th & 85th min while Tijaun Isaac 23rd min for Newtown. The National Premier league moves on to Match Day 21 on the weekend.
