Upgrades at Warner Park to Enhance In-Stadium Experience

Basseterre, St. Kitts, April 18, 2013 (SKNIS): Several enhancements are to be made to the Warner Park Cricket Stadium in Basseterre that will improve international match hosting capabilities and the overall fan experience.

Senior Sports Officer, Vernon Springer told SKNIS that preliminary work has begun on a six pole lighting project that will illuminate the grounds, allowing for night matches to be played at the premier sporting facility.

“We are looking at a seven to eight week window generally for the construction materials including the poles, cables and others to be moved to St. Kitts and Nevis,” he stated.

These will be provided by Qualite Sports Lighting LLC, a United States-based company that won the competitive bid to execute the project. After the materials arrive, engineers from Qualite will work alongside local contractors to complete the project which is expected to conclude in two to three weeks barring unforeseen developments.

The Carib Brewery Len Harris Cricket Academy, which is used for training and practice sessions, will also be lit.

Additionally, Mr. Springer revealed that a new 46 foot electronic scoreboard will be mounted and this will improve the in-stadium experience. The upgrades are in keeping with International Cricket Council (ICC) standards.

“These additional features will enhance the grounds itself and the capabilities of what will be happening,” he stressed.
