After an open competitive bidding process, the NTRC awarded the SE Vision Project USF #07 02/2025 contract to St Kitts & Nevis Cable Communications Ltd. (The Cable). The contract was signed at the NTRC’s secretariat on Monday 24, 2025. The total cost of the project is Four Hundred and Twenty-three Thousand, Nine Hundred and Sixty-five Dollars and Sixty-three Cents (423,965.63XCD) and will be funded by the universal service fund (USF). All telecommunications stakeholders (stakeholders) contribute to this fund. “It is important that the stakeholders respect the rules and honour the requirements that are enshrined in the Regulatory framework of the USF so that the fund remains healthy.”
“This project facilitates the increase in security at this particular area in St. Kitts. The Cable’s responsibility under the contract is to deliver the technology that is the platform for that.”
“This project is country-specific and serious as the instances of vandalism that have been experienced at the Cockleshell Bay area are of great concern to the Prime Minister, Minister of National Security.” This project supports that concern and will see the installation of underground fibre-optic cable connectivity and CCTV cameras which will be incorporated into the existing monitoring network of the Ministry of National Security specifically The St. Christopher & Nevis Police Force (The Force). This fast, safe, secure, and reliable network will offer real-time video surveillance and forensic capabilities for The Force in an underserved area. This innovative technology will be a deterrent for criminal activities in the vicinity of the water taxi area at Cockleshell Bay.
The NTRC thanks all universal service providers who participated in this bidding process and looks forward to your participation in future bidding processes.
