Two gun possession cases postponed at the District ‘C’ Magistrate Court

(CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS)- Deon Walters of Stoney Grove and Gavin Herbert of Bath Village both appeared before the District ‘C’ Magistrate Court on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 and pleaded not guilty to possession of guns and ammunition.

Both men indicated to the court that they were being represented by Attorney John Cato but, Cato was not present in court on Tuesday.

Her Honor, Magistrate Yasmine Clarke had no choice but to adjourn the matter until April 29, 2014. The youngsters were advised by Clarke to ensure that their legal representative is present in court on that date for the trial.

Walters was allegedly found with one (1) lorcin .380 auto pistol and ammunition, while Herbert was allegedly found with one (1) super titan .380 auto pistol and ammunition. These offences were allegedly committed on December 27, 2013 at Cedar Trees, Charlestown, Nevis.

Both men are incarcerated at Her Majesty’s Prison, St. Kitts.

The second gun possession matter to be adjourned was that of Miles ‘Milo’ Walters of Cotton Ground.

His case was once again postponed until May 6, 2014. Walters is being represented by Attorney Chesley Hamilton.

His arrest came about when police officers approached a group of young men at Cotton Ground on October 30, 2013 and one of the males allegedly tried to dispose of a weapon.

Three days after that incident, Walters was charged with the offense.

He is currently on bail.
