Basseterre, St. Kitts (March 2, 2025) – Officers from the Traffic Department, led by Inspector Gordon, attended the Basseterre Magistrate Court multiple times last week to adjudicate various traffic-related matters. Her Honor Sherry-Ann Liburd Charles and Her Honor Yasmine Clarke presided over the proceedings, which resulted in the following convictions and sentences:
**Cases Heard on February 24, 2025, Presiding Magistrate: Her Honor Yasmine Clarke.**
1. Philmore Powell of Cayon was convicted and fined $1,000, to be paid within three months; failure to pay will result in a three-month imprisonment for driving without due care and attention on November 13, 2024.
2. Tawanna Pemberton of Bird Rock received a conviction and a $1,000 fine, payable within three months, or three-month imprisonment if not paid, for driving without due care and attention on September 14, 2024.
3. Lennox Morton of Ottleys Extension was convicted and fined $1,000, to be paid within three months, or face three months’ imprisonment for driving without due care and attention on February 22, 2024.
4. Vernon Clive Simon of Old Road was fined $1,000, payable within three months, or he will serve three months in prison for driving without due care and attention on January 30, 2024.
5. Danique Dasent of Old Road received a conviction with a $1,000 fine, payable within three months, or three-month imprisonment for driving without due care and attention on May 31, 2024.
In addition to these convictions, nine ticket matters were withdrawn after confirmation of payment, and a further nine ticket matters were adjourned until March 24, 2025.
**Cases Heard on February 27, 2025, Presiding Magistrate: Her Honor Sherry-Ann Liburd Charles.**
1. Pryonni Jacobs of Molineux was convicted and fined $750, payable within one month, or face 14 days’ imprisonment for driving without due care and attention on May 17, 2024.
2. Ilva Wallace of Pond Extension received a conviction and was fined $1,000, to be paid within one month or serve 14 days’ imprisonment for driving without due care and attention on June 26, 2024.
3. Aaron Benjamin of Dieppe Bay was fined $2,000, to be paid by March 31, 2025, for driving without due care and attention on June 26, 2023.
Additionally, the court addressed the following:
– Thirteen matters were withdrawn due to payment of their corresponding fines.
– Thirty-three ticket matters were adjourned to May 1, 2025.
– One Bench Warrant was issued for Aldrin Hodge of Lime Kiln.
– Ten accident matters were adjourned to various dates.
