BASSETERRE, St. Kitts (SKNIS) — Minister of Tourism the Hon. Lindsay Grant recently met with all members of staff from cleaners to Permanent Secretaries; an act which was met with much appreciation.
According to many staff members, including those who worked within the Ministry for over 10 years, this was the first time they had such positive and warm interaction with someone at that level.
At a separate meeting, Minister Grant stated that he had been moved by the way “the little things” have touched people and was humbled by it.
In an interview with SKNIS, Minister Grant stated that he felt the need to do this because it is something that should be done often.
Minister Grant stated that this is the first but certainly will not be the last time he will meet with his staff.
“I plan to do this on a regular basis because part of the job is communication,” the Minister stated and revealed that these meetings will not only boost moral but promote productivity. “Things tend to breakdown when you don’t communicate the message to people. So I believe in making sure that people understand what my position is, that they will be able to air their views and not be fearful of it.”
The Tourism Minister added that he will meet with all the other staff members under his other Ministries which include the Frigate Bay Development Corporation Board; Ministry of Industry; Commerce and International Trade Secretariat; CARICOM Affairs and the Department of Industry and Commerce.
