Friday 10th May, was a very significant day in the lives of some of the top Primary schools’ athletes on the island.
On that day, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Mr. Kevin Barrett, made his rounds to several schools, bearing precious gifts.
His main purpose was to stop at certain specific schools and hand over deserved trophies to the respective star athletes from the most recent Gulf Insurance Inter primary championship.
He presented each athlete with a trophy and a cheque, with an undisclosed amount.
He also used the opportunity to implore the athletes and more so the grade six students, to persevere with their school work and to do well with their upcoming test of standards and end of term tests.
He asked them to marry their athletic prowess with their academic abilities and noted that they will be successful individuals if they can do that.
The schools and athletes receiving personations were:
Joycelyn Liburd Primary-Joric Daniel-Class champion Grade 5 boys and joint Victor Ludorum
Ivor Walters Primary-Leon Thompson Jr-Class champion Grade 4 boys and joint victor Ludorum
Maude Cross Preparatory-Zhanae Underwood-Class champion Grade 3 girls and joint Victrix Ludorum
Charlestown Primary-Latejah Bailey-Class champion Grade 6 girls and joint Victrix Ludorum
St. Thomas’ Primary-Adrian Wilkin-Class champion grade five and joint Victor Ludorum
VOJN Primary-The runner up trophy in the B division, was presented to Headmistress Wilkin.
