‘TICH’ LAID TO REST

A huge crowd of individuals from a wide cross section of the Federation of St.Kitts and Nevis, were present at the Warner Park Cricket stadium, on Tuesday 28th February, to be a part of the home going service of the late sporting icon, Steadroy TEDDY ‘TICH’ Techeira.

The avid sports personality, who passed away suddenly on Wednesday 15th February, was much beloved, as he was actively involved with a host of sporting organizations and made valuable contributions to the development of sports in the Federation

The tributes which commenced at 1.30 pm, included presentations from the Referee’s Association, eloquently presented by FIFA Assessor, Malcolm George Ramsey; The St.Kitts-Nevis Football Association; The St.Kitts-Nevis Athletic Association; The Special Olympics committee; The St.Kitts Cricket Association; his Fun Makers Mas’ players crew and many others.

It was revealed in the eulogy, which was presented by Mr. Dennis Knight, that TICH who lived a stone’s throw away for Warner Park, made his first steps on the greens of the Park, closely watched by his adoring mother, whom he loved very much.

As he grew, he naturally got involved in a wide variety of sports.

At the time of his death, he was an active Football referee; Cricket umpire; coach with the special Olympians; an accomplished sports journalist, who provided regular updates on local sporting events to many media houses and a keen Mas player at carnival time.

The service was presided over by Father George and the body was interred at the Springfield cemetery.

Also present at the funeral service were members of the Leeward Islands Hurricanes team.
