Thynell Martin Classics Thrill Crowd

There was a huge turnout of spectators at the second annual Thynell Martin Classics, which was coordinated by the Youth and Sports Department and held on Tuesday 4th December.

The action commenced and climaxed in the vicinity of the Villa grounds and saw from Primary school athletes at the Kindergarten level, to members of the adult community, competing in road races which increased in distance, dependent on the age range involved.
Brantley Calderon of the Charlestown Primary School made a scintillating run for the grades 3 and 4 boys event, to take it hands down and veteran Vanessa Williams, demonstrated that ‘age is just a number,’ by whipping her much younger opponents by quite some distance, in the open athletes female event.
The winners were presented with medals at the end of the event.
Also on hand to witness the event for the first time, was Sports Minister, Hon. Eric Evelyn, who lauded the organizers for a truly wonderful event and also assisted with the running commentary with the NTV Sports team.
