Double Olympic sprint champion Elaine Thompson Herah has made her departure from Nike official by announcing her new partnership with PUMA
In a press release Thursday Thompson expressed her delight in joining an elite group which includes multiple Olympic and world champion, Usain Bolt.
“PUMA just felt like a right fit, a company that has been working with the World’s Fastest Man for decades,” Thompson said. “I’m excited to be a part of an elite group and I can’t wait to get started.”
PUMA’s chief executive officer Bjørn Gulden said that they want to do whatever they could to assist in her quest to break the women’s world 100 metres record.
“We are thrilled that Elaine has chosen to join the PUMA family. With her speed, she embodies everything we stand for as a brand. Elaine ran the second fastest time in history last year (10.54 seconds) and is 0.05 seconds away from the world record,” Gulden said He added that Thompson Herah has her sights set on the 100m world record and PUMA wanted to help her achieve that goal with their most innovative products.
The first round of the women’s 100m begins on Saturday.
