The way I see it, we should give honour where it is due. I mean Jesus said so himself and we ought to follow what Jesus says.
On Wednesday of this week, Prince Henry of Wales, otherwise known as Prince Harry, visited Nevis, with all of the due pomp and ceremony.
There was a ‘wash’ of people at the Charlestown pier and on that day, it certainly did not auger well if you were short in stature.
People surrounded the goodly gentleman like bees. He was hardly visible, as he took time out to shake as many hands as possible and even paused for brief bits of conversation with a few people.
As I passed a group of Teachers, I overheard them debating, which one of them managed to shake his hands first and I understand that a group of high school girls from one of our Secondary schools, (which will remain unnamed for the purposes of this class), could only find time to be saying quite loudly that the Prince looked s—y.
Well I newa!
I understand that in another country that he visited, one of the female officials who was allowed to meet him, hinted quite clearly to being available to be his girlfriend!
Whenever he moved from one section of the Bay front to another, the people followed. They screamed in delight; they yelled they shouted; they waved!
Is all this necessary?
I rather think yes. God wants us to give honour where it is due but I cannot help but think about something.
How come we are not showing that kind of zeal in anticipation of the coming of the King of kings and Lord of lords?
Yes siree bob! Jesus is coming and there are some basic differences with his soon coming:
- There is no set date that we can prepare for. So when we hear persons predicting exact dates and times, we can know for sure that they are not speaking about the same Jesus!
- There won’t be any meeting with local dignitaries because everyone will be awaiting their final fate
- He won’t be arriving by boat. When he arrives in the clouds, the wicked will be struck dead by his glory; the dead in Christ shall rise first and those that remain shall be caught up to meet him in the air
- There will be no shaking of hands and need for security etc.
What we need to be cognizant of, is that unlike Prince Harry who was due to arrive on Wednesday 23rd November at 2.30 pm and the officials were able to prepare for him with precision, we won’t know when Jesus will arrive and so we need to be prepared one day at a time—every single day!
That’s the way I see it. How do you see it?
