The St. Kitts and Nevis National Carnival Committee (SKNNCC) aims to address recent concerns regarding the placement of Mas Bands for the upcoming Sugar Mas 53 Grand Parade.
On November 16th, the SKNNCC held a live selection event on ZIZ, allowing all registered Mas Bands to choose their designated positions for the grand parade. The initial positions selected were:
1. Ultra Carnival
2. Iconic Mas
3. Zus Carnival
4. Novali Mas
5. Luxe Carnival
After discussions with Novali Mas and Iconic Mas, both bands confirmed their intention to include traditional clown sections in their presentations. To maintain the traditional integrity of the Grand Parade and to prevent any disruptions caused by clowns mixing with other bands, a decision was made to place these bands toward the end of the parade—similar to the arrangement from the previous year. This decision was mutually agreed upon with the involved bands.
Following this adjustment, the SKNNCC communicated the changes to all Mas Bands. The revised positions were adjusted to:
1. Ultra Carnival
2. Zus Carnival
3. Luxe Carnival
4. Iconic Mas
5. Novali Mas
After further discussions with the affected bands—Novali, Iconic, Luxe, and Zus—a collective agreement was reached to finalize the positions of the Mas Bands for the grand parade as follows:
1. Ultra Carnival
2. Luxe Carnival
3. Zus Carnival
4. Novali Mas
5. Iconic Mas
The SKNNCC sincerely regrets any confusion caused by the initial changes made without consulting all affected bands. We extend our gratitude to all participating bands for their patience and understanding. We appreciate the collaborative spirit demonstrated by everyone involved, leading to an amicable resolution.
