TDC keeps its commitment to Youth Development through Athletics

Continuing its pledge to Youth development, the TDC Group of Companies has given its Corporate support to the 42nd Interschool Championships, as the principal sponsor.

The symbolic cheque presentation, which represented a bundle of in kind and cash contributions was made by Ms. Mia Bailey, the Client Relations and Marketing Manager at a media conference held at the Kim Collins Athletic Stadium VIP Lounge on Tuesday 13th March 2018.

In her remarks ahead of the much-anticipated Games, the Marketing Executive reiterated the Group’s commitment to the development of Youth, particularly in athletics.

“The TDC Group of Companies is proud to once again partner with the St. Kitts Amateur Athletic Association (SKNAAA) to further advance athletics in the Federation. We understand that the strength of this relationship extends far beyond this arena, as we continue to help pave the way for our junior athletes to thrive and excel in the sport of track and field,” remarked Bailey.

She further added that “TDC prides itself on its longstanding involvement with the local Sporting fraternity and believes in supporting young people in various endeavours at the grassroots and National levels across St. Kitts and Nevis.”

In response, Mr. Valentine Henry, the newly elected President of the SKNAAA expressed his pleasure in having the local business house on board and spoke of the importance of having TDC as it longest ally in the advancement of athletics.

“On behalf of the SKNAAA and the executive, we are pleased to have the TDC Group as the principal sponsor of this year’s interschool championships. For well over forty years, you have worked with us to successfully host what has become the largest sporting event in the Federation, and for this we say, again, thank you,” said Henry.

“We are proud of our partnership and the level of support that you have and continue to give us. It is our hope that as we move forward with a new vision for this meet, that you will continue to work with us to promote these games and by extension the athletes. I speak of course of those who will perform here and make a name for themselves, just like some of our former athletes, such as, Kim Collins, Kurvin Wallace, Meritzer Williams and others.”

In the late 1970s, the TDC Group was one of the first local companies to sign on to what was then an idea. Since then, its investment has helped to provide opportunities for many young persons to recognize their full athletic potential in over fifteen (15) different track and field disciplines annually.
