Mr Keith Glasgow, Chairman of the Senior Kaiso Sub-Committee has issued a statement in respect of the results of the Semi-finals of the Senior Kaiso Contest. The statement reads as follows:
On July 29th, in my capacity as Chairman of the Senior Kaiso Sub-Committee, I received a complaint from Junior “Bad Man Polo” Newton and his Manager Curtis Liburd about renditions by the artistes known as “Pupa Wheeler” and “Sookie” in the Semi-finals of Senior Kaiso Contest held on Saturday 28th July. After consultation with the Nevis Culturama Central Committee, I responded to Mr Liburd and Mr Newton advising that both artistes would be disqualified based on our interpretation of the Rules of the Senior Kaiso Contest.
However, after further discussion with other stakeholders and on the advice of Counsel, the Nevis Culturama Central Committee and the Senior Kaiso Sub-Committee have decided that the Judges’ decision on Saturday evening should be unaffected. Therefore, the finalists in the Senior Kaiso Contest will be as previously announced after the Semi-finals on Saturday evening and are:
Dis an Dat, Charis D, Astro, Daddy Nature, Sookie, Pupa Wheeler, X-Man, Murray and Nutsy who will compete against the reigning King, Hollywood.
The Committee looks forward to a keenly contested competition and urges the public to attend in their numbers to support their favourites.
