BASSETERRE (24TH March, 2016): The St. Kitts Tourism Authority is throwing its support behind the 2016 Nevis to St. Kitts Cross Channel Swim, which takes place on Sunday 27th April, 2016.
More than 200 swimmers are expected to swim the 2.5 mile distance from Oualie Beach, Nevis to Cockleshell Bay, St. Kitts.
Minister of Tourism Hon. Lindsay Grant, said that holding and executing this event on both St. Kitts and Nevis, requires support from both Tourism Authorities, and the St. Kitts Tourism Authority is more than happy to assist.
“Last year this event saw over 200 swimmers from all walks of life participating,” Grant said. “This year, we hope to see even more participants, particularly nationals, taking part in this challenging event. The Cross Channel Swim is gearing up to be a major calendar event for sports tourism for St. Kitts & Nevis.”
A donation of US$5000 was made by the Ministry of Tourism to the St. Kitts Nevis Swimming Federation towards the event.
The Nevis to St. Kitts Cross Channel Swim, now in its 14th year of operation is fast becoming one of the must-do events in the Caribbean’s “open water” swim calendar. For more information on the event visit http://www.neviscycleclub.com.
