St Kitts-Nevis Labour Party says: 2018 A Year Of Change & Action

SKNLP Toleration Of Abuse In Parliament Ends Now!

Keep your eyes locked on the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party as the movement progresses through a number of necessary and democratic changes.

2018 has been dubbed the year of change and action by the comrade leader Rt. Hon. Dr. Denzil Douglas and his fellow colleagues in the SKNLP.

Throughout the year, the population will see a number of significant improvements in the party, right down to the candidates of various constituencies.

Commenting on the party’s holistic modifications, Dr. Douglas stated that the changes are all a part of the SKNLP gearing up to serve the people of the Federation even better than before, and once again aid the Federation’s advancement.

The party has begun its preparation for the next general elections, to unseat the Timothy Harris-led government as to date, there has been no change in the failure rate of its elected and appointed representatives.

“You will begin to see obvious changes in leadership, especially at the candidate level very shortly. We are just about two years out from the next election and the party has begun all its preparations.”

One key area of change, as highlighted by Dr. Douglas, is the toleration of abuse from the Speaker of the House, Hon Michael Perkins. He stated emphatically that the Parliamentary Opposition has had it with the Speaker’s disrespect and bias and is prepared to do whatever it takes to ensure the voices of those of the wider community are heard in the people’s House.

“One key area of decisive change is how we tolerate abuse on the part of the Speaker in the Parliament. We will use all of the measures that are open to us.”

Dr. Douglas continued, “We have a different view and we believe that in a parliamentary democracy where you represent the people, nobody is supposed to be allowed to stifle the will of the people through preventing their representatives from speaking on their behalf on critical matters that are engaged in their governance.

“We will do all that we can do to ensure that the speaker who allows himself to be used as a puppet by the Prime Minister, that it comes to an end. We will use EVERY single means at our disposal so that the people’s voices in the parliament of our country will be heard.” “EVERY!”
