(CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS)- The villagers of the St. James’ Parish are in a celebratory mode ever since the announcement of the winners for the Culturama 40 celebrations.
This year, a number of troupes took part in the Culturama 40 celebrations. Parading through Charlestown displaying different culture and folklore through their dances and costumes, spectators were blown away by the designs and creativity by some of the costumes.
The Mas players jammed through Charlestown to the sweet sound of local band music.
However, at the end of it all, it was revealed by the Culturama Committee that the ‘Fun Lovers’ troupe who hails from the parish of St. James’ won the C40 Street Activities. ‘A Nevis We Born’ a troupe sponsored by Island Tyres and Hardware placed second and ‘Royal Rampage’ gained the third position.
‘Fun Lovers’ joined the Odisi Band who also hails from the St. James’ Parish and who was announced Road March Champions 2014 with their song ‘Give Me Space’ in celebration.
Akeisha Fergus, who lives in St. James Parish, Bulters Village to be exact was crowned Miss Culture Queen 2014, thus paving the way for the Odisi Band and ‘Fun Lovers’ troupe who also brought home titles to St. James’.
A victory beach party has been planned by the Odisi Band to take place on Sunday, August 24, 2014 at Herbert’s Beach from 12: 00 p.m. sharp.
