(CHARLESTOWN NEVIS)- On the afternoon of Saturday, August 9, 2014 the St. George’s and St. Johns Anglican Church held its annual Food Fair at the St. George’s Rectory Grounds, Hanley’s Road, Gingerland Nevis.
This yearly event, which usually commences the following Saturday after Culturama, has grown incredibly over the years. The event has attracted persons from all four corners of the island, who make themselves available to enjoy the festivity and merriment as well as its dainty dishes. At the function on Saturday, persons feasted on numerous types of food which include, ‘Barbeque Chicken’ and ‘Rice and Salt fish’.
One member of the church noted, that the event has been a success over the years, mainly because of the commitment the members of the parishes have made. She indicated, “In order for an event such as this to keep blossoming over a long period, the persons who are involved have to be committed to the cause”. She also claimed that that the church is the most scrutinized institution on the island and anything that has to do with the church will be closely examined. The member continued, “We also have to make sure that the food is up to par because people are normally very hard to please especially when it comes to eating”.
