Communications Officer within the Ministry of Social Development, Curtis Morton has disclosed that the 4th annual Sports Museum week will run from Monday 7th to Friday, July 11, 2014.
The week of activities will commence with a brief ceremony at the Museum on Monday 7th July, starting at 9:00 a.m.
Morton noted that the program was approved by the Ministry officials and finalized in conjunction with newly appointed Supervisor at the Museum, Ms Vera Herbert.
The program is geared to honour select sporting personalities on an annual basis for their significant contributions to sports and the promotion of the island and also to draw attention to the Sports Museum which is the brain child of former Minister of Sports, Hon Laughton Brandy.
The honourees for this year are as follows:
Cricket—Ed Arthurton; Vance Amory; Theodore Hobson
Football– Denzil Parris and James Greene
Netball—Vera Herbert and Jasmine Charles
Basketball—Jenerson France and Wanda Parry
Athletics—Wakeley Daniel-administration
Body building—Desmond BULL Liburd
Drag Racing-Gavin Clarke
Friday 11th July-Thynel Martin—athlete—deceased
The general public is invited out to meet and greet the honoured sports personalities during the course of the week.
