BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, SEPTEMBER 5TH 2013 (CUOPM) – Kittitian Hill. St. Kitts’ newest resort hotel is to open by December.
St. Kitts and Nevis’ Minister of Tourism, Sen. the Hon. Richard “Ricky” Skerritt said the Sedona Resorts managed hotel will opening initially with 35 rooms “and they will ramp up over the course of the season up to 85 by the next season.”
“Let me just say these are 35 high-end rooms. I mean the daily rental rate is going to be at the Four Seasons level to use that as a standard,” said Minister Skerritt in an interview with Freedom’s FM (106.5 FM) morning talk show host, Lennox Linton.
“The good thing about higher rates is that it usually means higher yields, higher yields mean more sustainability more profitability, better quality jobs, higher incomes and so that is one of the reasons why we are moving as far as we can to the higher end of the tourism market,” said Minister Skerritt.
He disclosed that Sedona Resorts officials are already in St. Kitts and has opened an office in preparation for the soft opening in December.
“It will be a relatively small, soft opening as they go through the process of training and establishing their standards and they are in the process of early interviews with the possibility of hiring their local team,” said Minister Skerritt.
