The Women’s Ministries Department of the Seventh Day Adventist church on Nevis, hosted a successful fun day at the Villa grounds, on Wednesday 26th December.
The force of the day was on Cricket.
Two matches were played and in match one, two mixed teams from across the island, which featured Seventh Day Adventist members and friends, engaged in a 15 overs a side match.
The Elroy Kelly X1 batted first and got to 60 all out.
Ronald Bartley top scored with 21; Danny Williams 11; Elroy Kelly 10.
Curtis Morton Jr 2 wickets; Curtis Morton Sr 2; Judy Morton 2; Reon Solomon 2.
The Curtis Morton X1 knocked off the target in 10 overs, for the loss of 6 wickets.
Curtis Morton Jr retired out 42; Judy Morton 10 not out.
In match two, a strong looking Charlestown team (on paper), came up against the winning team from the previous game, in a 12 overs contest.
The Curtis Morton Jr X1 won the toss and batted and chalked up an impressive 91 for 5 in their allotted overs.
Sebastien Manners top scored with a superbly played 34; Elroy Kelly (drafted into the team), got an attractive 22 and Curtis Morton Jr scored 15.
Danny Williams; Venrick Newton and Malva Rawlins, all got 1 wicket each.
When the Charlestown team batted, they failed to negotiate the tight bowling of the mixed team and fell away for a meager 38 runs.
Jenerson France top scored with 11 and Joel Williams got 8.
Curtis Morton Jr and Curtis Morton Sr got 3 wickets each; Judy Morton got 2 and Elroy Kelly 1.
The mixed team won by all of 53 runs.
