The very exciting Village Premier League, mainly sponsored by Greg Hardtman and Associates, continued on Sunday, December 7, 2014 at the Hard Times playing field, despite some serious challenges with the weather.
Early in the day, the outfield did not suggest that any cricket would be played there for another two weeks but chief organizer Michael ‘Wise’ Herbert rallied his troops from Rawlins and they did a marvelous mopping up job which allowed the first ball to be bowled sometime after 3:00 p.m.
In match one; Butlers easily took care of Easterns to seal a semi final spot. Easterns batted first and struggled to 45 for 8 in their allotted 10 overs and Butlers, led by Bervis Burke and Theron Bussue, knocked off the required total without loss in just 3 overs.
In match two, a more even contest, ‘Trash Dem Out’ batted first and scored a competitive 113 and the Hanley’s Road team got to 96 in their 10 overs at the crease.
It means therefore that the following matches will be played in the semi finals slated for next Sunday—14th December:
Match one: Empire v Butlers at 12:30 p.m.
Match two: Trash Dem Out v Jahbass
The two top teams will face off in the grand finals on Sunday, December 21, 2014 and Herbert has indicated that there will be a grand bingo session on that day as well.
