Security Forces Conducted Successful Operation at His Majesty’s Prison

On July 23, 2024, the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF) and St. Kitts-Nevis Defense Force, in cooperation with officers of His Majesty’s Prison, conducted a thorough search at His Majesty’s Prison (HMP). The purpose of this operation was to maintain order and security within the correctional facility.

The search led to the recovery of various prohibited items including cell phones, chargers, cigarette lighters, a razor, a Gameboy, an iron file, scissors, screwdrivers, shanks, cannabis, tobacco, homemade wine, and other contraband items. These items posed a significant threat to inmates’ and staff’s safety and security. The recovered items were confiscated, and appropriate measures are being taken to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Commissioner of Corrections, Mr. Franklyn Dorset, expressed his gratitude for the support provided by the security forces, emphasizing the commitment to ensuring a safe and secure environment within His Majesty’s Prison. He further stated that the correctional facilities will continue to work diligently to protect the well-being of individuals within their care.

Commissioner of Police, Mr. James Sutton, added that this joint operation emphasized the importance of inter-agency cooperation in addressing security challenges. The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force pledged to continue working closely with His Majesty’s Prison to conduct regular inspections and enhance security measures within the prison. Additionally, individuals with information regarding contraband or other illegal activities are encouraged to come forward and assist the authorities in maintaining law and order.
