Basseterre, St. Kitts, June 20, 2018 – Police said a second person has been charged in the May 30 murder of 17-year-old Jamoy Stapleton of Taylors and the attempted murder of two other teenagers. Stapleton is the Federation’s 13th murder victim for 2018.
Police said Antonio Pascal, also known as “Gravel,” of Lower Shaw Avenue, Basseterre, was formally arrested and charged on June 18 for the murder of Stapleton.
Pascal, whose age was not disclosed by police, was also charged with the attempted murder of 15-year-old, Hajan Calbourne and 19-year-old Antonio Lestrade. The official police statement did not name Stapleton and Calbourne as they are juveniles.
Calbourne sustained a gunshot wound to the chest and Lestrade was wounded in the arm.
A police statement issued shortly after the May 30 killing, said four masked assailants entered the premises and one of them began shooting.
“The 17-year-old juvenile exited the house and received gunshot injuries about the body, which left him fatally wounded,” the police said at the time.
There have been three other murders since the May 30 killing of Stapleton.
On June 1, the lifeless body of 19-year-old Jamie Chapman found in a yard at Clay Ghaut, Nevis. He is murder victim #14.
On June 3, 82-year-old Iona Nicholas was suffocated in her home. She is murder victim #15.
Bus driver, Renaldo Jeffers of St. Peter’s was shot dead in a passenger bus at the Bus Stop on the corner of College and Cayon Streets on Saturday June 16. He is murder victim #16.
