The 2024 edition of the Runako Morton/TDC Primary Schools Cricket tournament began at the ET Willet Park with a brief but impressive ceremony on Monday, 24th June.
The ceremony was chaired by Senior Sports Officer Carl Tuckett and included several key elements: an invocation by Tevyon Hendrickson, a student at VOJN Primary; the national anthem, sung by Kairisa Heyliger of the MCPS; the officials’ oath by Tarique Browne; and the players’ oath by Deshawn James of VOJN Primary.
Speakers at the event included President of the Nevis Cricket Association Carlisle Powell, Sponsor’s Representative Thyrone Hendrickson, Director of Sports Jamir Claxton, and Minister of Sports Hon. Troy Liburd, who officially signalled the start of the tournament.
Unfortunately, matches scheduled for the day were cancelled due to rain.
