Robert Maxwell, who is a native of Canada, but who resides in Nevis on a part-time basis, on Monday afternoon-16th January, made a significant presentation to the Bath United Football club.
According to the Coach of the Bath United Football club, Alex Claxton, who chaired the brief ceremony, Maxwell was introduced to the club, through long time sponsor of the club, Frankie of Apple Syder and because he wanted to make a contribution to the people of Nevis, a meeting was held and specific items related to Football were identified.
Maxwell for his part noted that he was not a Footballer, but was a sportsman at heart and is actually currently a Hockey Coach in Canada.
He indicated that he knows the value of sports and stated that he just wanted to help to ensure that the youngsters in the club were positively and safely occupied in playing the game.
He did not take full credit for the donation, as he received assistance from family members and friends, including a friend of his named Kevin, who played a significant role in acquiring the items.
He officially handed over the equipment to Claxton who thanked him on behalf of the club, its President, Mrs. Isha Duggins, the Football moms present and the footballers.
