BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, SEPTEMBER 13TH 2013 (CUOPM) – Nationals and Residents of St. Kitts and Nevis will Worship in Celebration of and Thanksgiving for the 30th Anniversary of the Independence of the twin-island Federation.
The State Service will be held his year at the St. George’s Parish Church on Cayon Street at 6:00 P.M.on Sunay 15th September.
Following the opening sentences by Archdeacon Valentine Hodge of the St. George’s Parish Church, the Mass Choir will sing “Lift up Your Voices.”
The Opening Hymn “To God Be the Glory,” will be sung by the congregation, the Opening Prayer by Rev. Ben Browne of the Cayon Church of God and the welcome remarks by Archdeacon Hodge.
Pastor Kenneth Francis of the Abundant Life Church will call the congregation to worship.
Prime Minister the Right Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas will read the Old Testament Lesson from Isaiah Chapter 40: 12 to 26; the Responsorial Psalm will be led by the Rev. Joyce Rohan, the newly-appointed Superintendent of the Methodist Church, St. Kitts Circuit and the New Testament Lesson, Romans 12: 9 – 21, by Leader of the Opposition, the Hon. Mark Brantley.
The Gospel, St. Luke 14: 25- 34, will be read by Rev. Jonathon Bass of the People’s Evangelistic Center.
Following the congregational hymn “How Great thou Art,” the Sermon will be delivered by The Rev. Dr. Job Ward, Pastor of the Wesleyan Holiness Church in Tortola and the former Superintendent of the Wesleyan Holiness Church in St. Kitts.
The National Mass Choir, under the direction of Mr. Clyde Richardson with Mr. Nathaniel Christian on the organ, will sing the Anthem “The Exodus Song.”
This will be followed by the hymn “Our Beautiful Country” written by Lady Hulda Lawrence, wife of His Excellency the Governor General.
President of the St. Kitts Evangelical Association, Bishop Ron Collins will lead the Prayers of Intercession, Father Manuel Antao of the Immaculate Conception Co-Cathedral Catholic Church will bless the offering, the National Anthem of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis will be sung and the State Service will end with the singing of the Recessional Hymn “I heard the Old, Old Story.”
The Service is prepared jointly by the St. Kitts Christian Council and the St. Kitts Evangelical Association.
