The Returning Nationals of Nevis has made a significant donation to the Nevis Football Academy which is responsible for the development of the Nevis under 23 team.
In a brief ceremony held at the ET Willet Park on Wednesday night, President of the Returning Nationals Group, Mr. Rolston Deson presented a cheque of $1,000.00 to the Academy.
In making the presentation, Deson indicated that when his Association was approached by Claxton seeking assistance, they discussed and came up with five reasons why they should assist:
*Break down divisional; denominational; cultural; class; gender and race barriers
* Spotting, developing and realizing talents, skills and abilities that could lead to a profession and financial earnings that would be beneficial to self, family and the island’s economy
* Fostering, developing and strengthening friendships
* Help to keep them out of bad influential company that would eventually lead them into trouble; some of which could be fatal
* Become good role models to the youths—both at home and wider afield and to become ambassadors of Nevis and the federation
Ag.Director of Sports, Jamir Claxton thanked the Association for their kind donation and indicated that it will be used toward the further development of the team.
One of the young players accepted the cheque on behalf of the team and also thanked the Association for its generosity.
