Charlestown-Nevis-Hundreds of Nevisians including a huge number of school children turned up at the Charlestown pier to be part of a warm welcoming ceremony for Prince Henry of Wales, otherwise known as Prince Harry.
As part of his Caribbean tour, representing his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth the second, Prince Harry arrived at the Charlestown pier sometime after 2.30 pm on Wednesday 23rd November.
He was greeted by the official welcoming party, which included Premier of Nevis, Hon. Vance Amory, who in turn, introduced him to the other dignitaries assembled. This included his honour, Deputy Governor General, Mr. Eustace John, members of the Nevis Island Assembly and leader of the opposition, Hon. Joseph Parry.
Prince Harry was then treated to some rare Nevisian Culture which included the big drums and masquerades and the popular Sugar Hill String band.
The Prince spent time personally shaking hands with and greeting scores of persons who reached out to touch him.
He was then whisked away in a Police vehicle which led the royal escort to the Four Seasons resort, where a reception was held.
Thereafter, Prince Harry met with Conservationist Lemuel Pemberton, who gave him a guided tour of the turtle conservation site located at Lovers’ Beach.
Prince Harry later returned to St.Kitts where he was treated to a reception complements of the Governor General, Sir Tapley Seaton.
