Primary School Football Tournament Kicks Off This Friday

According to chief coordinator of the Primary Schools’ Football tournament, the signature annual event will kick off this coming Friday 12th October, at the ET Willet Park.
Ward, who was at the time being interviewed by NTV Sports page, stated that there will be a brief opening ceremony at 1 pm during which the Minister of Education and the Minister of Sports, will deliver brief remarks, along with other dignitaries from both Ministries, as the tournament remains a collaborative effort between the two ministries.
Sadly, for yet another year, Ward is bemoaning the fact that the tournament has not attracted a sponsor and hopes that that will be rectified in the not too distant future.

This year, all of the schools will be able to play against each other, in an effort to encourage more Football being played by the youngsters and therefore the tournament will be extended over last year’s and the teams will NOT be zoned.
All of the Government owned Primary schools are set to participate in the tournament, except for the St. James’ Primary School, which does not presently have enough students to play.

Additionally, two private Primary Schools, in the Nevis Academy and the Maude Cross Preparatory School, will also be on board.
Matches will be played on Friday afternoons, starting at 1 pm with two matches on two separate fields and another two matches will be played on the same afternoon, starting at 2.30 pm.
For this coming Friday, 12th October, four matches will be played immediately following the opening ceremony.
