BASSETERRE, Saint Kitts and Nevis – Ms Limya Eltayeb, the newly appointed United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Representative to Saint Kitts and Nevis, presented her credentials to the Right Honourable Dr. Denzil Douglas, the Foreign Minister of Saint Kitts and Nevis, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the meeting, Foreign Minister, Dr. Denzil Douglas, warmly welcomed Ms. Limya Eltayeb to the Federation and expressed his appreciation for the enduring partnership between Saint Kitts and Nevis and UNDP. He acknowledged the pivotal role that the UNDP has played in promoting sustainable development, social progress, and economic growth in the country, especially in the areas of education, and environmental sustainability.
Ms Eltayeb conveyed her commitment to continuing the UNDP’s support for Saint Kitts and Nevis and building on the accomplishments achieved through the existing projects. She praised the government’s dedication to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the remarkable progress made so far. Ms. Eltayeb highlighted the importance of collaboration and innovation to address emerging challenges and opportunities.
The meeting between Foreign Minister Dr. Denzil Douglas and Ms. Limya Eltayeb included discussions about not only sustaining the ongoing initiatives but also exploring new areas of collaboration. They emphasized the need to adapt to the evolving development landscape and find innovative solutions to support the nation’s Sustainable Island State agenda. The UNDP Representative expressed her enthusiasm to work closely with the government and other stakeholders in identifying and implementing new projects that align with Saint Kitts and Nevis’ development priorities.
Ms Eltayeb also paid courtesy calls on the Deputy Prime Minister, Dr. Hon. Geoffrey Hanley, Minister of Sustainable Development et al, Hon. Joyelle, Clarke, and the Junior Minister for Youth Empowerment et al, Hon. Islaean Phillip.
