Police Investigating One Shooting in Ottley’s Village and One in Nevis

Basseterre, St. Kitts, January 30, 2016, 2015 (RSCNPF): The Violent Crimes Unit (VCU) is currently investigating the murder of Wade Phipps, a resident of Christ Church. The incident occurred around 7.50pm on Friday night, (January 29) in Ottley’s Village.
Initial investigations revealed that Phipps, was shot in the vicinity of the Netball and Basketball courts several times by an unknown assailant(s). He died on the scene.
On Nevis, Asim Parris of Stoney Grove was murdered by an unknown assailant(s) in the vicinity of the Bath Cemetery sometime this morning (January 30). Parris was on bail for the January 2008 murder of Leon Westerman of Nevis.
An appeal for information from persons who may have been in the area has been echoed by Detective Superintendent Andre Mitchell, Head of the VCU. Superintendent Mitchell said, “this ongoing gun violence affects our families, it affects our communities and our nation, and we must put an end to it. Our citizens and communities coming forward and sharing any information you may have is a first step in ensuring Citizen Safety.”
“We urge anyone who may have any information, no matter how irrelevant you may think it is, to call the Police. That piece of information may be critical in moving these investigation forward,” stressed Supt. Mitchell.
