(BASSETERRE, St. KITTS)- Circumstances surrounding the death of a man whose body was found on Central Market Street in the vicinity of Jenkins Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 still remain sketchy.
Police PRO Inspector Lyndon David confirmed that an autopsy of the deceased was conducted and it has revealed that the death of Trevor Douglas was due to gunshot injury to his body.
According to reports when the body was found it showed no sign of decomposition. This indicated that the death had occurred in less than an hour after being discovered. However, how Douglas received this gunshot wound is still shrouded in mystery.
One media house has reported the Douglas was shot and killed by a police officer and police are being ‘tight-lipped’ about it. The media house reported that they had received persistent reports that in the early hours of the morning on March 27, 2013, 34-year old Douglas was shot while fleeing the scene after smashing the windows and windscreen of a vehicle parked on Victoria Road.
Another media house has reported that unconfirmed reports suggest that Douglas may have been shot since 1:00 a.m. at Upper Market, but ran down to the lower end of the street and tucked himself in the narrow space to elude his pursuers.
Although uncertainty continues to surround the events as to how Douglas met his demised, the facts remain that murder toll for 2013 in the Federation is now up to seven.
Douglas’ death came less than 24 hours after Miguel Byron who was gunned down near his home on Back Street in the vicinity of the Cayon High School, St Kitts.
Police continue to investigate these matters.
