Dr Terrance Drew bid farewell to the Ambassador of the United States of America to Barbados and OECS Roger Nyhus after his term ended.
St Kitts: The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis Dr Terrance Drew has bid farewell to the Ambassador of the United States of America to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean Roger Nyhus after his term in the Ambassadorship ended. The Prime Minister extended his best wishes to the Ambassador for his future appointments and endeavours.
The officials have shared that the Ambassador’s term ended on Monday and he was sent off with a cocktail reception. The officials have shared that the farewell reception was attended by several high-level officials of the country.
The prominent guest list was led by the Governor General of St Kitts and Nevis, Dame Marcella Liburd. The Prime Minister Drew was accompanying his wife, Diani Jimesha Prince-Drew.
The farewell event was also attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Denzil Douglas. The government officials, staff from the Embassy of the US in Barbados, also gathered to bid him farewell.
Ambassador Roger Nyhus assumed his place in the US Embassy in January 2024. He was appointed as the Ambassador of the United States to Barbados and the OECS in 2022, by the President of the United States, Joseph Biden, his appointment was subsequently confirmed in November 2023.
Over the weekend, Ambassador Nyhus visited the federation and shared that he was delighted to see the natural beauty of the island nation. He highlighted that he was delighted to be present in the federation.
He worked on several areas of interest, which include climate change, climate action and other issues affecting the nation and the Caribbean region at large.
The ambassador said that he has made significant progress on regional security and economic prosperity of the nation. The Prime Minister, Dr Terrance Drew, have shared that the work on all these sectors will continue beyond the Ambassador’s tenure.
The Ambassador has also shared that he was delighted and honoured to serve the people of the United States and the island nations of the Caribbean during his tenure in the Ambassador’s office.
