NIA CHARLESTOWN NEVIS (JULY 22, 2013) — Deputy Premier of Nevis and Minister of Tourism Hon. Mark Brantley has welcomed additional airlift at the Vance W. Amory International Airport (VWA) at Newcastle and urged residents and visitors alike, to make use of the premium travel the airline would provide.
His comment came on July 19, 2013, on the heels of an announcement by United States of America based luxury air carrier Tradewind Aviation, that it had launched a non-stop service from San Juan to Nevis.
“Nevis welcomes this additional airlift and we invite our residents and visitors alike to make use of this premium travel.
“I wish to thank the General Manager of the Four Seasons Resort Sven Wiedenhaupt who led the discussions on this new service and the other members of the Board of the Nevis Tourism Authority who supported his efforts,” he said.
The Tourism Minister noted that the Nevis Island Administration was serious about the island’s tourism product and saw airlift as critical in the island’s growth and development and saw the announcement by Tradewind as “a critical step in the right direction.”
He explained that the new route which also included San Juan to Anguilla were in addition to the Company’s existing premium schedule service which operated in Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard in the north-eastern United States and St. Barths in the Caribbean.
“The company will also provide charter services. It currently carries the bulk of passengers between Puerto Rico and St. Barths and sees the addition of Nevis to its routes as a positive step to expand its luxury travel portfolio. The luxury flights will begin at US $359 per one-way flight according to the company,” the Tourism Minister said.
In addition, Mr. Brantley stated that with the airline’s popular St. Barths, Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard routes, the flights to Nevis would be operated in world-class comfort.
“Modern and turbine-powered Pilatus PC-12 and Cessna Grand Caravan aircraft flown by two pilots in air conditioned comfort with complimentary refreshments, snacks, wine and beer onboard.
“Booking is available at booksecure.tradewindaviation.com or with our partner travel sites: Kayak, Expedia, Travelocity and Trip Advisor. For travel professionals, flights are available for booking in all major GDS systems – Sabre, Amadeus, Apollo, Worldspan and Galileo. The Tradewind two-letter code is TJ and the validation is on HR (Hahn Air),” he said
According to Mr. Brantley, the San Juan (SJU) hub was served by the most airline options in the Caribbean and one could connect non-stop with New York, Chicago, Boston, Miami, Philadelphia, Charlotte, Houston, Dallas, Toronto, Baltimore, Hartford, Orlando, Tampa, Jacksonville, Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, Minneapolis, Detroit, Washington DC, Atlanta, Panama City and Caracas.
