NEVIS To Participate In Under 23 Tournament

Curtis Morton:

Nevis will be participating in the OECS under 23 Netball tournament after a few years absence.

One of the main coordinators of the team, Miss Vera Herbert noted in an interview on Monday that the tournament will be held in St. Kitts this year from the 6th to 13th July.

According to her, the tournament is being held too close, for Nevis not to send a team and it will not be such an expensive venture, as there will be no expensive airfares involved.

As a matter of fact the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB), will be taking care of the cost of accommodation for the teams and so she took the opportunity to ask members of the general public and business entities to donate towards the purchase of uniforms for the team and to assist with taking care of some other expenses, such as food.

Miss Herbert indicated that the next two weeks of preparation will become more intense and expects the team to give of their best during the tournament.

The young ladies for their part, all seemed enthused but generally indicated that they are excited but nervous. However, they all pledged to give it their all, during the tournament.

The team is a very young team, with most of the girls originating from the Charlestown Secondary School and one or two from the Gingerland Secondary School.
