A brief but significant ceremony, took place in front of the Nevis Credit Union building, on Tuesday morning-22nd January.
The occasion saw the presentation of a cheque to the family of the ailing Teddy BLACKMAN Liburd, towards his medical bills.
President of the Nevis Masters’ Cricket club, Franklyn KUT Daniel, in making the presentation to the family members, indicated that the money was raised at the fund raising cricket match versus the St. Kitts Masters, which was played on Saturday 19th January.
He presented a cheque to the tune of $16,262.50.
Livingstone LIVI Liburd and Hilarena Liburd, brother and sister of the ailing local icon, both took time out to express gratitude to the Nevis Masters and all who contributed in making the fund raiser a success. They also thanked Almighty God for his continued love towards BLACKMAN and the family.
Also on hand to give moral support, was the Minister of Sports Hon. Eric Evelyn, who expressed his delight at the show of support demonstrated by the Nevisian community, in not only attending the match, but also giving generously and noted that Nevis is still a caring society.
Oscar ASTRO Browne, of the Nevis Masters, then encouraged the general public to continue to give to the cause and pointed out that there is an established account at the Nevis Cooperative Credit Union: The James Liburd Medical fund.
He also listed a number of persons and institutions who have promised to donate to the fund as well.
Franklyn KUT Daniel then expressed gratitude to a long list of donors to the cause.
BLACKMAN is currently under intensive care at a hospital in Barbados, after suffering injuries in a vehicular accident in December 2018.
