Nevis Cricket Association Records Successes In 2022

President of the Nevis Cricket Association Carlisle Powell, in a recent review of the Cricket year on Nevis for 2022, has thanked his executive members for their sterling efforts in making it a successful year for cricket on the island.

He also thanked the many sponsors, donors and general stakeholders who helped to ensure that the game of Cricket remains alive and well on the island.

His Association would have organized nigh on 250 games for the year, in a variety of tournaments.

Several players have excelled regionally and internationally:

Carlon Bowen Tuckett captained the Leeward Islands under-19 team to victory, in the regional under-19 tournament.
Onaje Amory was the top wicket-taker for the tournament.
Hosea Pluck made the Leewards under-17 team, while Amoree Jones, Lythe Browne Khrisna Girardi, represented the Leewards at the under-15 level, with Ronje Daniel as reserve

At the senior level, Nevis had three representatives in Kieron Powell, Ross Powell and Colin Archibald.

At the senior women’s level, Senaldo Willet, Melecia Clarke, Asheena Freeman and Rozel Liburd, represented the Leewards at the Windies regional tournament.

The Under 19 females who represented the Leewards at the regional tournament were: Sarah Ghandeo, Shelliqua Carmichael and Carlissa Pluck.
Carlon Bowen Tuckett also made it into the West Indies Academy team.

Powell also thanked the sponsors of the three tournaments organized by his Association: Harvey Stapleton T-20 tournament-The Stapleton family.

Upcoming -Nevis will shortly be preparing for the Leewards three-day tournament, scheduled for February 18th to March 4th.

The ET Willet Park needs a substantial amount of work before it can host regional and even CPL matches.

One of the big events set for 2023, is a grand gala event set for March 9th to commemorate 50 years since Elquemedo Willet broke into the West Indies team.

Powell is hoping that Willet will be elevated to the status of National Hero, by St. Kitts and Nevis Government, prior to the event.
