(CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS)- Information surrounding a chopping incident that occurred last night Monday, February 24, 2014 is still sketchy but this media house has learnt that a native of the Dominican Republic was chopped last night at the ET Willet Park by a fellow Dominican.
It was reported that sometime between 5:00 and 6:00 p.m. two nationals of Dominican Republic were in a verbal altercation that stemmed from an argument sometime ago. Reports indicate that the altercation redeveloped last night. The altercation ended with one male warded at the Alexandra Hospital and the other in police custody.
An eyewitness told this publication that he was at the park when he saw a ‘clear Spanish’ running through the top gate of the park with two stones in his hands. Another dark male was running behind him with a stone and a machete in his possession.
According to the eyewitness the ‘clear Spanish’ slipped down a slope and at that time the other Spanish, with dark complexion caught up to him. Here he said both men started to throw stones at each other. Then, he indicated that the ‘dark Spanish’ started to chop at the other male with a machete.
While sharing what he experienced with this media house, the eyewitness said he can still hear the sounds of the man’s bone being chopped as the machete pierced through his skin.
He also stated that the incident occurred in the park where officials and students were at the time training for upcoming track and field sports.
No names of the persons have been released but one of the males is said to own a barber shop on the opposite side of the Charlestown Police Station while the other is said to be a driver of a red bus.
Investigations into this matter continue.
