On November 28th, 2024, our National Intervention Team hosted an engaging Youth Lecture at the Ministry of Agriculture’s Conference Room in St. Kitts. The theme of the event was “Rise Up: Empowering the Future, Overcoming the Challenges.” Students from Verchilds High School, Basseterre High School, Washington Archibald High School, Cayon High School, and Charles E. Mills Secondary School came together for an afternoon filled with learning and interaction.
We were honored to welcome Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Adlai Smith as our guest speaker. He inspired the students by discussing the importance of developing good character, maintaining a strong sense of self, making ethical decisions, and resisting peer pressure. To entertain everyone, he even performed a rendition of the classic reggae-R&B song “Angel” by Shaggy!
Following DPP Smith’s talk, students participated in group discussions led by Emily and Sam Settelmeyer, delving deep into the various challenges they face in their communities.
We are deeply grateful to everyone who joined us for this meaningful event. Let’s continue working together to empower the next generation to rise up and make a difference!
