Basseterre, St. Kitts and Nevis [Ministry of Health] – The Ministry of Health is unwavering in our dedication to the health and well-being of all our citizens and residents. We acknowledge that while our healthcare services aim to be of the highest standard, there are areas where improvements are not just desirable, but necessary. We are committed to a policy of continuous improvement, recognizing, and addressing our system’s shortfalls with urgency and dedication.
Understanding the critical role of diagnostic services in effective healthcare delivery, the Ministry has made substantial investments to expand and enhance the capabilities of our radiology department. This initiative is part of our broader effort to ensure that our healthcare infrastructure meets and exceeds the needs of our community.
Expanded Radiology Department: We are proud to announce that we currently have the highest number of Radiographers ever employed at the JNF Hospital, with a total of 7 certified individuals. We also have two consultant radiologists on staff. This expansion in manpower is a significant step forward in improving the accuracy and speed of diagnoses for our patients.
International Collaboration: Our efforts to advance medical review practices, especially in radiological matters, are being bolstered through a pending collaboration with the renowned German Medical University, the Universitatsklinikum Schleswig-Holstein (UKSH.) This partnership will bring global expertise and innovative practices to our local healthcare system and allow for the continuous world-class training and skills-building of our local medical practitioners and radiographers.
Advanced Equipment: The installation of the new fluoroscopy machine at J.N.F. has already begun, with staff training underway to enhance our capacity in delivering comprehensive radiology services. Further, the acquisition and installation of MRI and CT scan machines are on track for deployment in the next few months. These advancements will dramatically improve our diagnostic capabilities, ensuring that residents of St. Kitts and Nevis have access to state-of-the-art medical imaging services.
The Ministry is undertaking a series of actions in response to concerns raised, including thorough analysis and comprehensive reviews of diagnostic and treatment protocols, and an evaluation of current equipment and staffing levels.
We are dedicated to fostering an environment of transparency and accountability within our healthcare system. The Ministry of Health encourages open dialogue with the community we serve and is grateful to those who share their experiences with us. It is through such communication that we can identify areas for improvement and work collaboratively towards a healthier St. Kitts and Nevis. All are encouraged to make use of the numerous suggestion boxes located at J.N.F. and other healthcare facilities in the federation to keep the administration abreast of any concerns or questions they may wish to share.
The Ministry of Health is devoted to promoting and ensuring the health and well-being of the citizens and residents of St. Kitts and Nevis.
