Basseterre, St. Kitts, November 3, 2015 (SKNIS): Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Youth, the Honourable Shawn K Richards, is calling on the young people in St. Kitts and Nevis to join the movement towards development of the nation.
Speaking during an address to mark the observance of Youth Month 2015 on November 1, the Deputy Prime Minister urged the nation’s youth to take advantage of opportunities provided by his Team Unity Government aimed at challenging each and every young person to achieve his or her full potential.
Listing some of the opportunities available, the Deputy Prime Minister Richards said, “Young people I urge you to join this new move of Youth development in our Federation. Through the channels of entrepreneurship in the Creativity for Employment and Business Opportunity (CEBO) leadership in the repositioned CARICOM Youth Ambassadors Programme, and capacity building in the EU In-service Programme there are manifold opportunities to lead the charge to enfranchisement.”
The minister explained that it is only through participation of the Federation’s youth in nation-building can true development be realized.
Speaking directly to young people, the minister said, “It is through your views, talent and energies that we can realize the establishment of safe havens for youth inclusion for Kittitians and Nevisians alike.”
