Memorial Service Held For Crib

Brown Hill-Nevis- He was as flambuoyant as his many suits, which he mostly wore with matching hats and shoes.

Real name: Euclid Levine

Pseudonym: CRIB

He hailed from the village of Brown Hill and was described as not only a proud BROWNHILLIAN but even more significantly, a proud NEVISIAN.

He was accredited as a ‘man with a big heart’ and one who was quick to help persons in need and especially if they came from Nevis and more especially, if they hailed from Brown Hill.

Small wonder, after his untimely passing on Friday 24th August, after a prolonged battle with the dreaded Cancer, the Brown Hill Community Management team, held an elaborately planned memorial service, in honour of the 69 year old stalwart.

The service was held at the Brown Hill hard court, on the evening of Tuesday 11th September and interestingly, registered in the huge show of support for the family, were not only members of the Brown Hill community, but also individuals from across the wider Nevisian community.

The proceedings were ably chaired by the charismatic Allister Thompson and included prayer by Mr. Edred Ward; the Old Testament reading by Mrs. Nicole Parris; the New Testament reading by Ms. Vennett Jones and a wide array of tributes.

Included in those giving tributes were: The Berea Chapel; Brown Hill Wesleyan Holiness Church; Dwayne Hendrickson (song); Dave Parris (nephew-who spoke from his heart about his beloved uncle) and the Budgeon Range Community.

The eulogy was delivered by the eclectic St. Clair SAZAAM Hull who after recounting his first, inauspicious meeting with the deceased, noted that they became very good friends and mentioned two occasions on which his genourosity and helpful nature were clearly demonstrated.

On one occasion, CRIB had SAZAAM accompany him throughout the entirety of Brown Hill and he presented monetary gifts to all of the senior citizens in the village.

On another occasion, when SAZAAM was asked to go to the hospital to donate blood to a fellow villager, he was told that the surgery had already been paid for, by none other than CRIB!

Also paying sterling tribute to the late BrownHillian, was Premier of Nevis, Hon. Mark Brantley, who described CRIB as a personal friend. He was fondly referred to by the deceased as ‘Ma Maan!’

He noted that he was always puzzled as to why CRIB eventually decided that he was a Jew and took it so seriously that he was seen at many functions, waving his Jewish flag and even donated one to the Bayfront display of Flags on the Samuel Hunkins Drive.

He quipped that CRIB took the Jewish thing so seriously that he died on the Friday, before the start of the Sabbath.

He extended condolences to the grieving family and congratulated the Brown Hill Community Management team on the initiative to host the memorial service.

The dynamic sermonette was delivered by Pastor Theophilus Kelly, who used the opportunity to beseech his listeners, to give their hearts to God, before it was eternally too late.

The prayer for the family was rendered by Pastor Alrick Browne and the benediction was done by Pastor Kelly.

Some of the other dignitaries at the service, included, Her Honour, Deputy Governor General, Mrs. Hyleta Liburd and Mr. Elmo Liburd and Her Honour, Magistrate Yasmine Clarke, both proud BrownHillians.
