On Friday 9th March, a brief but significant ceremony, was held at the Charlestown office of the Massy United Insurance Company.
At this ceremony, the renowned company presented a cheque of $2,500.00, as co-sponsors of the local inter high schools championships, which was held over the weekend.
The ceremony was ably chaired by Mr. Vijay Harinarine of the Sports Department, who in his opening remarks indicated that he hoped that the kind gesture by the company, will serve as a catalyst for other institutions, to come on board to assist with the sponsorship of similar events.
Mr. Ricaldo Bynoe, the Regional Business Manager of the institution, in his remarks, stated that the company was very pleased to be associated with the sponsorship of the event and noted that the company has a long association with sponsoring sporting events regionally, which include sponsorship of Cricket; Horse racing; Car racing and many more events, for over thirty years.
“We are part of the community and we are here for you, as we are also here for you, in time of need,” he said.
He noted that the company recently paid out over 250 million US dollars, in terms of disaster funds, throughout the region
The cheque was then officially handed over to Mr. Jamir Claxton, Director of Sports
Mr. Claxton in turn, thanked the company for the donation and stated that it will go a long way in the execution of the athletic meet. He indicated that the impact of such a donation, was not measurable in dollars and cents.
He then presented complimentary VIP passes to the event, to the Massy United Insurance team members present.
