Nevisian author, Ms. Vanessa Webbe, has published her second children’s book. The author launched her latest publication entitled “Everyday Prayers for Children,” at Divinity Book Store, in Charlestown, on Thursday 27 th June, 2019.
A prayer of blessing for the book was offered up by Mrs. Florence Morton, affectionately called, “Mother Morton”. Ms. Webbe expressed her thanks and appreciation to everyone who assisted with the work as outlined in the acknowledgement page, including Danielle Moore who designed the cover page, Pastor Sonia Herbert for editorial assistance and Mrs. Carol Liburd-Ward who assisted with the formatting.
She also thanked Best Buy Supermarket and Nevis Spring Water who made contributions towards to the publication of the prayer book. The author dedicates the book to the children of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis, especially her own grandchildren.
A synopsis of the prayer book is given, by Ms. Webbe, in the ‘About the Book’ section, which reads as follows:-
‘Everyday Prayers for Children’ is written for the family to enjoy prayer time with the children. Prayers are categorised into five sections: Prayers of Adoration, Prayers of Thanksgiving, Prayers of Confession, Prayers of Supplication and Words of Affirmation from the Bible for the children to declare. Additionally, a devotional follows with cherished scriptures and songs that are traditionally taught to children.
The aim of this book is to encourage our children to pray habitually, to enjoy praying and to bless their families, friends and nation through prayer, while they pray for themselves.” Sample prayers from “Everyday Prayers for Children”
THANK YOU FOR OUR NATION
Dear heavenly Father,
Thank you for our Nation
The Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis
For our splendid paradise islands
Where we are free to worship you
Bless our nation, we pray
Please watch over us by night and day
And keep us safe from harm and danger
Please shine your light over our nation
And help us to do what is right in your sight
Please give our leaders wisdom and courage
To do what is best for our nation
Help us all to work together
To build our Nation further
Please meet the needs of everyone
And help us to give you thanks
For all the wonderful things you have done
For this our Blessed Federation
We pray in Jesus’ name. Amen
THANK YOU FOR YOUR PROMISES
Jehovah,
You are a kind and loving Father
You grant us many good gifts
And we can also trust in your promises
Thank you that you are our shepherd
And we shall not want
That goodness and mercy will follow us
All the days of our lives
That you promise to always be with us
To take care of us.
In Jesus’ Name we pray.
Amen
The book is available at Divinity Bookstore in Charlestown and is recommended as the ideal reading book this summer, for children between the ages of five to twelve. According to Ms. Webbe, the prayer book can also be used to help children indulge more in reading, while developing spiritually.
