Lewis Elliot Laid To Rest

Gingerland, Nevis – Saturday, March 21, 2020, saw a huge gathering at the Gingerland Methodist Church, as scores of individuals, showed up to celebrate the life of Lewis Reynolds “Roper” Elliot.

The esteemed patriarch of his family passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2020, at the age of 99 years.

The officiating Pastor was Pastor Bernard Browne of the United Pentecostal Church.

The service, which was streamed live, featured tributes by Lynette Stanley, Gingerland Secondary School Class of 1981, Charlestown Secondary School, Elmo Farrell, Gingerland Secondary School-class of 1973, Ministry and Department of Education, Brethren Assemblies of Nevis, Faith in Christ Ministries, Ebenezer United Apostolic Church, Pond Hill community group, the Manners family, Elliot’s family of Morning Star, the entire Elliot’s family and Meredith and Sylvia Hendrickson.

The formal remembrance was eloquently delivered by the two sons of the deceased Elvette and Edson Elliot.

They painted the picture of a man who was a committed, hardworking family man; an educator, in terms of the wisdom and guidance he provided; an entertainer and poet, and a highly religious and God-fearing man.  Intermingled with all of those qualities, was a strict disciplinarian and a man who was never afraid to speak his mind.

The sermon of the day was presented by Pastor Bernard Browne.

Other officiating Pastors, included: Pastor Cecil Bartlette, Pastor Londy Esdaille and Minister Orette Smith.

The formal acknowledgements were done by the chief coordinator of the service, daughter, Angelica Elliot and the final rites were performed at the Gingerland cemetery
