Kings Rule The Waves

The St. Lucia Kings quieted a large crowd at Providence in Guyana as the finals of CPL 2024 took place on Sunday night.

Batting first, the home team struggled against the St. Lucia bowlers who consistently bowled in good areas. A late surge from Pretorius and Shepherd helped them reach a competitive total of 138 for 8.

In response, the Kings lost their two main scorers, Skipper Faf Du Plessis and Johnson Charles, and at one point looked completely lost, scoring at a slow pace with the required run rate increasing significantly.

A desperate message from Coach Sammy from the dugout suddenly sparked Arron Jones and Roston Chase into action. As the balls went sailing into the crowd, the home spectators lost their voices and eventually started to leave the stadium as they realized that the game had changed drastically.

The game concluded anticlimactic with a wide, and the Kings’ players rushed onto the field in celebration.

Summarized scores:
Guyana: 138 for 8 in 20 overs
Dwaine Pretorius: 25
Noor Ahmad: 3 for 19
St. Lucia: 139 for 4 in 18.1 overs
Aaron Jones: 48*, Roston Chase: 39*
St. Lucia Kings won by 6 wickets
