Charlestown-Nevis-On Friday 5th October, the seniors on Nevis, united with some of their counterparts from St. Kitts to participate in one of the signature events for the month of older persons-October. It was the seniors march.
Among the marchers, was Ms. Katherine Blake of Nevis, who was incidentally celebrating her 80th birthday on that day.
Despite not feeling too well, she marched from the Long stone area in Charlestown, all the way to the ET Willet Park.
At the end of the official ceremony held at the Park, the seniors joined to celebrate with her.
The chorus ‘Thanks’ was sung by all and then Hon. Eric Evelyn made a special presentation of a plaque and a fruit basket, complements of his Ministry and the City Drug Store.
Deputy Director at the Department of Social Services, Miss Joyce Moven, read a passage of scripture and congratulated her on achieving the significant milestone.
The ‘birthday girl’ noted that she was really grateful to God and to all those who had helped to make her birthday extra special.
She then sang the song FOREVER FRIEND, with some assistance from her fellow seniors.
The birthday song was then sung with some zeal and then the special lady received three lusty cheers to continued long life.
